Assuming I can back out of the deal for the dealer to apply paint protection, what is the best thing I should do to protect the new car’s paint?
I already own this product:
And also this product:
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
My plan is to wash, clay bar, and apply one of these. Any advice?

I use that paste wax, but it doesn’t seem particularly long lasting.

Waxes rarely are, sealants last longer, while one of the SiO2 or similar coatings would be best for longevity.

I don’t think it helps matters that I commute in a city, so I wash my car weekly to get all of the soot from exhausts off. I usually just use the Maguiar’s quick liquid wax after each watch, since it only takes about 20 minutes to do.

Paint correction on a new car might be an idea, it depends on how the paint looks - if it’s sat on a lot for awhile or had an enthusiastic prepper it might already have swirls.
Clay bar is good and a requirement if you are putting down wax or sealant.
I’m still using up gold class so I haven’t started with techwax2.0 but I’ve heard good things..

Wash, clay bar, glaze, and wax is what I would do.
I used to use nothing but Meguiar’s stuff, but I picked up a bottle of Griot’s Garage Poly Wax on a whim and haven’t looked back. It lasts so much longer, looks better, goes on, and wipes off easier than Mequiar’s Ultimate. I’m slowly switching to Griot’s Garage as I use up my Meguiar’s stuff. So far I’ve been impressed with everything I’ve used.

Carnuba based paste wax. Wax on wax off.

You really should not be clay barring a new car. Also, you need to give it a little bit before waxing and sealing it.
Unless, it’s been on the lot for a bit already.

+1, really liking the Griot’s stuff I got as a gift for Christmas.
